Munyonyo is an area on the northern shores of Lake Victoria and is part of the metropolitan area of the city of Kampala, in Makindye Division. Kampala is the largest city and capital of Uganda.

Munyonyo is bordered by Lake Victoria to the south, Bulingugwe Island to the southeast, Ggaba to the east, Salaama to the northeast, Buziga to the north, Makindye to the northwest and Lubowa to the west.

The coordinates of Munyonyo are:00 14 33N, 32 37 12E (Latitude:0.2425; Longitude:32.6200).

Munyonyo is located approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi), by road, southeast of Kampala’s central business district.

General Overview of Munyonyo area

Munyonyo is one of the most upscale residential neighborhoods in the city of Kampala.

It is the location of two of Kampala’s upscale resorts: Speke Resort & Conference Center and Commonwealth Resort.

The latter was the venue of the 2007 meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), also known as 2007 CHOGM.

It’s a five star hotel and that’s where Uganda hosted the conference of common wealth countries ( CHOGM) that took place in 2007 and up to now, this hotel is still living to its expectations. Apart from this hotel, there are many bars, guest houses, restaurants , night clubs to mention but a few.

For the not yet developed suburbs of Munyonyo like Salaama , village life still prevail to the fullest. In this place you can get a good house at a cheap price and still enjoy Munyonyo to the fullest. You may still live in this place and again enjoy the amenities enjoyed by the rich people in Munyonyo.
